Andromeda Annouces Mobile Phone Ordering
Andromeda Announces the Worlds First fully Integrated Mobile Phone Ordering Applet for Food Delivery.
LONDON, 23 Jan 2008
Andromeda, the leading provider of delivery EPOS systems, today announced the launch of its OrderAnywhere application, developed in partnership with Opiah. Following the success of online ordering, Pizza chains and other food delivery services are looking to Mobile Phone Ordering as the next new sales channel. To date, these services have used SMS or WAP with severe limitations. OrderAnywhere enables consumers to have a branded applet on their phone, which contains the full menu for that concept. Menu prices and offers reflect the current menu in the customers nearest store, and are updated automatically by the restaurants EPOS system.
|
When a consumer orders using OrderAnywhere, the order is transmitted directly to the stores EPOS system, within seconds, saving labour costs and preventing mistakes. The customer receives an SMS confirmation that there order has been received, and another as the order leaves the store.
Customers can even make orders while outside of signal area, such as being on the underground, and transmit them once a signal is present.
The OrderAnywhere application is fully branded to the restaurants logo, menu and 'look and feel' and can be deployed easily by text message. Consumers can get their copy by texting a code word (e.g. Pizza) to an SMS short code.
It is also simple for customers to pass the application to a friend and it is even possible to operate a referral scheme (introduce 5 friends and get a free drink...)
Orders can be placed using payment by cash on delivery and/or Credit Card.
The payment infrastructure is powered by the Assensha secure mobile payment system from Opiah Systems Ltd, a leading mobile commerce developer.
Ben Portsmouth, CEO of Andromeda commented We see mobile phone ordering as the next step in the rapid evolution of food delivery ordering. Our customers have told us that SMS and WAP do not meet consumer needs for a simple, easy to use way to order from their phones. Our OrderAnywhere system meets these needs and gives delivery operators the ability to rapidly add a new revenue stream to their business.

Andromeda launches free SiteTalk system check
Andromeda has already developed an automatic pre-emptive site check for its corporate customers sites. They are now pleased to announce that this service is now provided free of charge to all of its clients subscribed to a software support package. |
Quite simply, the SiteTalk service connects automatically to each site early every morning and checks several critical technical elements, hours in advance of the store opening. A report is then generated, listing all sites with potential problems. Andromedas Support Team then connect remotely to each of the affected sites and can usually fix any problems BEFORE the site was even aware there was a problem.
John Hale, Customer Service Manager, commented this free service emphasises our commitment to customer satisfaction by proactively identifying and correcting problems in advance of the store opening, thus minimising any inconvenience to our clients. This is the latest example of our strategy to deliver new services and technologies to our clients in our regular upgrade programme. We currently roll out to our clients three major software upgrades a year, each of which adds more functionality, features and improved performance at store level.
Andromeda, with headquarters in London & Dallas is Europes leading delivery EPOS provider. SCOFF Good Food from a Good Place
With clients such as The Bombay Bicycle Club, Papa Johns, EasyPizza, Itsu Sushi and Herbies Pizza to name but a few, Andromeda Trading Ltds Rameses EPoS is fast becoming the operating system of choice for the food delivery industry.
Andromedas most recent project is a more unique take on food delivery. Unlike take-away pizza or fast food, SCOFF in Fulham, London, is about seriously good cooking using the best traditionally farmed ingredients delivered directly to your door.
|
SCOFF
With a menu full of mouth-watering dishes such as pork sausages in caramelised onion gravy, steak and kidney pudding, slow braised pork chop in a cider and rosemary cream sauce, steaks from traditional single breed beef cattle and side dishes and deserts such as warm apple, almond and calvados cake, its clear that SCOFF are passionate about food.
As well as the focus on high quality, great tasting food, SCOFF also concentrates on being delivery experts. All orders are cooked and delivered within 45 minutes.
Steve & Sarah Rushton, owners of SCOFF already own two gastro pubs in Devon The Diggers Rest, a 500 year old thatched pub near Exeter and The Blagdon Inn, near Taunton in Somerset. They originally moved to Devon to open holiday cottages on an old Devon Farm. The Gastro pubs were born out of the frustration of having few good eateries to choose from in the area.
We were full for 52 weeks of the year the holiday cottages were a great success. Our guests would ask us where they should go to eat and without anywhere we felt we could recommend eventually we thought lets open a good pub.
The two pubs are very popular, one reason being the great local produce they have sourced for chefs to use. This interest in good, traditionally farmed ingredients has meant that Steve and Sarah have spent many days sourcing produce direct from farms having visited the farms and developed relationship with the growers. Both have degrees in Agriculture and have a passion for supporting good traditional farming they believe that good farming, without the need for intensive systems, pesticides, growth promoters and chemicals has a proven positive effect on the food that we eat and its nutrition value.
The pork we use comes from traditional saddleback pigs roaming in the woods on Dartmoor. Even commercial free range pork in the UK in many instances has piglets being given regular doses of antibiotics to help them survive away from their mothers as the sales margin that supermarkets require means that farmers have to wean the young earlier than nature intended. We think that the traditional breed, weaned at an older age not only tastes better because it has matured in the way nature intended, but it also makes for a more healthy farming system away from man-made chemicals introduced to try to fool the life cycle
SCOFF has been open since mid May 2007 and is proving a great success. With another SCOFF opening in Kingston in September and the SCOFF website due to go live soon (www.scoff.co.uk), things are going from strength to strength.
Andromeda
The team at SCOFF are delighted with the service Andromeda have provided and the two companies have built a strong relationship. SCOFF uses Andromedas Rameses EPoS System which gives them a fully featured order taking system with a sophisticated driver dispatching system. The system provides a user-friendly user interface, but is packed with powerful features inventory & labour cost control, marketing, a full suite of reports on all aspects of the business, two second card processing, SMS messaging on dispatch, free online mapping, integrated 24/7 web ordering and much more.
We chose Andromeda due to their experience and reputation. We also believe that its important to future-proof our business and use professional software and systems. This will enable the business to grow whilst maintaining a professional appearance to our customers
We have experienced no blips with the software. Its user-friendly, simple to use, easy to train staff on and has a great user-interface.
PC-PoS
All the hardware has been provided by PC-PoS UK Ltd, Europes largest EPoS distributor. The venue uses two high-performances, aesthetically pleasing PC-PoS 15 inch touch screen IT1500 integrated units complete with a comprehensive three year warranty. PC-PoS have also supplied Epson Printers a TM-T88IV thermal printer at the front o-house and a TM-U220B high-performance impact printer in the kitchen. Andromeda have also fitted two EBN Flat Panel PCs to the walls in the kitchen at SCOFF which allow the kitchen staff to read orders as they are taken at the front of house. The EBN Flat Panel PCs run on Microsofts Windows Embedded Point of Service operating system (WEPOS). WEPOS is an easy to use point of service platform based on Windows technologies now optimised for the retail and hospitality verticals.
The hardware, provided by PC-PoS is user-friendly and simple and the printers are lovely. We use Epson printers in our other establishments too and they are very reliable

Enterprise communication for real time news
LONDON, 14 June 2007.
Andromeda, the leading provider of delivery EPOS systems and internet ordering solutions, today announced the launch of an add-in communications module for its Rameses POS system.
The Enterprise News Ticker module allows chains running Andromedas Enterprise software to post real-time news updates to the sites. The updates are displayed, ticker tape style, on all EPOS terminals in each location. The system also provides further in-depth information behind each headline shown in the news ticker. |
This additional service meets a real and pressing need how to communicate information to a wide network of sites in a timely fashion. Historically, this has been done via labour intensive ring arounds and round robin systems. The system is particularly effective in crisis management by passing critical information to each site instantly. For example, an alert can be transmitted in the case of issues with bank card processing. It can also be used to let the chains leadership team keep sites up to date with a weekly or even daily message.
The Enterprise News ticker is available for a small additional charge to all chain customers, as part of the latest version update.
Commenting on the announcement Mark Metcalfe, Operations Excellence Manager for Andromeda, said Our customers have a real need to keep their restaurants informed of developments, both on a day to day basis and also in an emergency. We believe that the Enterprise Ticker will make a significant impact on our customers operations, driving tangible business results. I look forward to helping our customers get the most from this new service.
Ben Portsmouth, CEO of Andromeda added This announcement further confirms Andromedas commitment to support our Enterprise customers with world-leading products and services. We will continue to ensure that our customers have a real competitive advantage by using Andromeda systems.

Under the terms of the agreement, Andromedas EpoS system will accept and validate i-movo promotional vouchers in realtime. Owing to the unique nature of Andromedas system, this facility can be made available to all restaurants that use Andromedas system with no additional integration effort required from the restaurateur.

Improved Online card processing with 3-D Secure
With the increase in internet ordering of delivery food products, exposure to charge backs and fraud is increasingly becoming an issue, both for Customers, Restaurants and card providers.
Andromeda is pleased to announce the availability of 3D secure, which has been introduced by the payment card industry to combat fraud. |
3D Secure will offer you several benefits:
No chargeback liability once 3D secure is in place, on line transactions will be just as safe as Chip & PIN. This should produce a significant cost saving and reduce the risk of a major exposure to fraud.
Potential reduced charges from your card acquirer. The majority of UK acquirers will be able to agree reduced charges for cards where 3D Secure is in place for transactions.
Ability to continue to accept Maestro/ Switch from June 2007. After 1st June 2007, Maestro transactions will require 3D Secure, without it they will be declined.
Andromeda can offer this service to all customers using its internet ordering services, and can assure clients that its internet ordering solutions are fully DSS-PCI compliant.

PJs feed 1500 at UK network gaming event
Andromeda helps Papa Johns feed 1500 at the UKs
largest network gaming event.
When the organisers of the i30 chose Papa Johns Pizza to feed the estimated 1500 gamers and spectators at the i30 festival in Newbury, it was always going to be a challenge.
Papa Johns Franchise Partner Naveed Orakzai called on Andromeda to help organize the IT to make everything run seamlessly.
|
Using a Virtual Private Network (VPN), Orakzai was able to connect to his store, using laptop computers on a wireless network, at the I30 Tournament itself.
These computers were used to remote control extra Rameses stations at his nearby Papa Johns store.
Orakzai and his staff simply placed orders on the laptop computers, which were then instantly transmitted to the chefs make line station back at the store. A constant flow of drivers was used to ensure that the pizzas were delivered to the hungry gamers on time.
During the course of the 3 day event, so many pizzas were sold that the store was able to hit an all- time weekly sales record for a UK Papa Johns store.
Commenting, Franchise Partner Naveed Orakzai said Andromedas rapid response to my request helped us gain a significant amount of extra sales, and the Rameses EPOS system really helped us keep everything under control.
Ben Portsmouth, CEO of Andromeda said This was an unusual request for us, but we were able to come up with a solution that worked. Our broad band enabled technology helps our customers unlock extra sales that would otherwise not be possible.
Jack Swaysland, Operations Director of Papa Johns UK, added I am really pleased at the record sales achieved by the Newbury store and this highlights the opportunity we have to make the most of our investment in our Rameses EPOS system, to generate extra sales.

Netherlands' largest Pizza Chain chooses Andromeda
New York Pizza, the leading Pizza Chain in the Netherlands, has selected Andromeda to provide its Rameses EPOS system, for all of its sites across the Netherlands.
New York Pizza (NYPD) is the most successful pizza chain in the Netherlands.
Headquartered in Amsterdam, the company has an estate of over 75 delivery and takeaway stores, plus 5 slice stores in high footfall tourist areas. The chain has also recently won a contract to provide pizza slices to hungry commuters in several mainline railway stations, replacing Pizza Hut.
|
The company had been researching the market for a replacement PoS provider, to replace the aging system which has been in use for many years. NYPD has evaluated systems from the US, UK & Europe, before selecting Andromedas Rameses system for the roll out to its estate.
NYPDs Managing Director Bart Jan Wijsman commented:
We have aggressive expansion plans and needed to find a system which would help us to achieve our objectives.
We have spent over a year carefully evaluating companies and visiting sites throughout Europe which had these systems installed, before deciding upon Andromeda.
We visited several of Andromedas customers in the UK, including Papa Johns Pizza and Famous Moes. We were reassured by the fact that Andromeda had a lot of experience in rolling out a system into a large group of stores and would be able to install into all of our stores in a relatively short period with a minimum of disruption. They have the systems and procedures in place for pre-installation training of store staff, installation in the store followed by onsite training and then ongoing support after the installation is handed over.
The company is very professional and is extremely practical, due to the pizza background of its management.. We have had several exchange visits with their technical people and by using the dedicated NYPD SharePoint site provided by Andromeda, we can all request and monitor progress on development requirements, such as integration with our website.
Ben Portsmouth, CEO of Andromeda commented We are very pleased to be working with New York Pizza , and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship. This roll out underlines Andromedas commitment to the EPOS market in Europe

Stores can now compare performance in real time
Andromeda announces its revolutionary Performance Dashboard - a new product which works alongside its award-winning Rameses EPOS system, to dramatically improve performance in a multi-site enterprise.
Performance Dashboard monitors, in real time, a number of Key Performance Indicators for every store in the chain. Items measured include service times, sales value and numbers of orders. The information is constantly updated and displayed on an easy to read display in the store. Using this information, each store can see its performance against the national and area averages and also its position in a league table. The top and bottom 5 stores are also shown, in real time, for each measure.
By allowing each store to see how it is performing in real time versus other sites, a sense of competition is introduced, which will dramatically improve the performance of those stores which are not on target.
|
Ben Portsmouth, CEO of Andromeda said The best chain operators have always driven performance using league tables for tracking KPIs. In the past, these had to be manually posted to each store location, often a week or more out of date. Now, with Performance Dashboard, stores can see their performance in up to the minute real time.
Mark Metcalfe, Operations Excellence Manager for Andromeda added Using our Performance Dashboard will really help our customers get the most out of their system. I look forward to working with our chain customers to implement this effectively in their businesses.
Performance Dashboard is available on a pay as you go rental basis, from only 10 per location per month and can be provided to all chains with 2 or more locations running Rameses Enterprise or Professional software. Andromeda will be launching Performance Dashboard in late March. Any chains signing up prior to the end of April, will benefit from a 60 day money back guarantee. If a significant improvement in performance has not been seen within 60 days, Andromeda will refund the amount paid.

Andromeda calls time on busy fast food phones
ACE Results - More Orders, Higher Margin, Better Customer Service
A new low-cost telephony service that is easy to deploy and enables fast food outlets to manage customer calls far more effectively has been launched by Andromeda and NewVoiceMedia Ltd. Integrated with Andromedas Rameses EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) system, ACE (Andromeda Call Enhancer) is designed for fast food outlets with a common problem too many customer calls at once, but not enough staff to handle them. The first service of its kind, ACE is designed to increase customer loyalty and spend by providing outlets with simple, innovative and cost-saving ways of handling phone calls.
With ACE no hardware or cabling are needed instore. Everything is
handled at the telephone exchange, outlets retain their existing phone
number and have no need to buy any additional equipment.
|
Customers avoid the frustration of an engaged tone as calls are queued in the telephone network. Outlets can choose to overflow calls to homeworkers or to an outsourced call centre at busy times. This gives them access to a flexible and professional source of additional order takers. The speed of order taking is increased due to the ability of ACE to pop up caller details on the order takers screen for almost every call even if the callers number is withheld.
ACE also provides customisable music and messaging across unlimited callers in queue, enabling outlets to offer customer specific promotions to individual callers increasing average order value.
If a customer calls back to chase an order, they are automatically advised of its status - whether it is being prepared, awaiting a driver for delivery or is already on the road. This leaves order takers free to capture more calls and improve the service provided to customers.
Outlets can even choose to prioritise their most valued customers by moving them to the front of the queue. In a sector where customers can switch easily from one outlet to another, a VIP caller treatment for regular, valued customers will build loyalty, says Ben Portsmouth, Chief Executive Officer of Andromeda. ACE will have a huge impact on the profitability of fast food outlets, whilst improving the customer experience a rare combination of benefits.
ACE is a suite of network-level intelligent telephony functionality made possible by a close integration between Andromedas Rameses EPOS software and next generation intelligent telephony functionality provided by NewVoiceMedia (NVM). The telephony functionality is provided as a service anywhere in the world, paid for on a usage basis.
ACE opens up a whole wealth of business benefits for fast food distributors, says Jonathan Grant, CEO of NewVoiceMedia. NVM has proven in other industry sectors that integrating CRM and EPOS systems with intelligent telephony is a powerful proposition, and we are very excited to be launching ACE with Andromeda, a world first in the foodservice market, delivered with a world leader in that sector.
ACE is an out of the box solution, providing functionality to fast food outlets on their existing telephony number, without requiring any on-site equipment or integration.
Andromedas state-of-the-art enterprise wide EPOS system is used by Papa Johns in all its operations throughout Europe.

Andromeda launches Chip and PIN Solution
Andromeda, the UKs leading Delivery EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) provider, has launched a fully integrated Chip and PIN solution for its Rameses EPOS system. The new system will provide cost-savings over rival offerings as well as extremely fast card transaction processing times.
The new Chip and PIN device has been developed in partnership with Thyron Systems, a specialist manufacturer of I/P based mobile and portable EFTPOS terminals, and payment services provider DataCash.
Unlike terminals supplied by acquiring banks the Andromeda solution is fully integrated into the EPOS system, thus reducing amount entry errors and providing local EPOS reconciliation of card and cash sales.
|
Card transactions are processed in under three seconds, and unlike traditional card payment terminals, all connectivity to the bank is provided over the existing broadband infrastructure. This means that multiple payment devices can be deployed on-site and provides cost savings by removing the need to have dedicated phone lines for each terminal.
Enterprise level reporting enables a head office to report on card transactions in real time, either by site or as a total. Furthermore, it is possible to drill down into each individual transaction.
Andromeda Chip and PIN is available for Counter Service and Table Service concepts and has been fully bank approved.
Ben Portsmouth, CEO of Andromeda, said: Our investment in the development of this new Chip and PIN product means that we can offer a solution at a fraction of the cost of rival integrated product offerings. Furthermore, we can provide a much faster authorisation process which is extremely important to customers. We selected Thyron and DataCash as partners for their industry leading technologies.

Andromeda Hires McClarren in US Business Drive
Following the opening of its first US office in Dallas, Texas, Andromeda has recruited Lenny McClarren as Consultant to help the company develop its business operation in the United States. |
McClarren has extensive experience in the pizza industry, having worked with Dominos Pizza for over 20 years in several key positions. Lenny also spent five years working in Dominos headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Commenting on his appointment, Ben Portsmouth, CEO of Andromeda, said: Lenny is a valuable addition to our international team, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and know-how that will help to shape Andromeda in the US market. For Dominos, Lennys building programme was the start of the companys rapid expansion from a regional to a national company increasing the companys new store openings from five a year to 115 the first year and 216 in the second. His experience will Im sure prove invaluable to Andromeda as we enter and expand in the US market.

Andromeda Arrives Stateside to Introduce Internet
Andromeda opens new office and aims for gap in the US pizza delivery market
Following the opening of its first US office in Dallas, Texas, Andromeda Pos Inc has unveiled a new version of its multi-Award winning delivery Point of Sale (POS) software for the US market. Rameses 3.1, which represents the next evolution in delivery software, will be officially launched at the worlds biggest pizza show, Pizza Expo, at Las Vegas, Nevada in March (14-16th). |
Rameses Delivery POS is packed full of high end and unique features. These include The Rapid Transaction Gateway (RTG) integrated credit card processing in as little as 1.5 seconds - integrated web ordering in conjunction with Ordertalk, text notification, integrated online drivers map and advanced head office reporting.
2005 was a landmark year for Andromeda, again picking up industry awards for Rameses and opening an office in Dallas in November. Andromedas system was also chosen by Papa Johns in the UK and Europe, with Rameses installed into all of the companys UK and Ireland outlets within just three months.
Commenting, Ben Portsmouth, Chief Executive Officer of Andromeda POS Inc, said: The US market is a massive opportunity for us to demonstrate why companies like Papa Johns are choosing Rameses as their system of choice in Europe. Having stated our ambitions by opening our first regional office in Dallas, we are now really looking forward to exhibiting and meeting new contacts at The Pizza Expo in Las Vegas. As the market leader in the UK delivery POS segment, we believe we have some excellent features to bring to the US market.
Prior to founding Andromeda in 1999, Ben Portsmouth, and the companys Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Ben Cole, spent several years as operators themselves. Ben Portsmouth worked for Pizza Hut as an outlet manager and thereafter spent time at the companys head office where he focused on special projects.
The company believes that it has identified a commercial gap in the US market which Andromeda can fulfil. We are surprised at how few US pizza companies are making effective use of Internet Ordering, said Ben Cole. With integrated online ordering our customers experience up to 15% of their orders coming via the internet, with higher customer spending and lower operational costs. The whole process is much faster and more efficient than old fashioned method of faxing orders.
Andromeda has developed a reputation for tailoring software solutions to clients specific requirements and providing superior levels of ongoing support.
Andromeda sells direct to customers and is also looking to recruit regional resellers. |

Andromeda Launches New Counter Attack!
Papa Johns Selects New Counter Service for Centrale Store
Confident Andromeda offering free trial to companies with ten or more sites.
Papa Johns, Americas number one pizza business, has become the first company to benefit from the launch of Andromedas new Counter Service EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) system which enables food outlets and other merchants to collate sales and other key business information in near real-time. The Counter Service system, which has been developed to integrate with Andromedas advanced head office system, also provides simultaneous, split second credit card transaction processing to help reduce customer queuing times. |
The new Counter Service system has been designed for coffee shops, burger bars, or indeed any counter service environment where speed and fast customer service is vital. Andromeda believes that the level and detail of business information reporting, especially above store, is unrivalled in the market.
FastCard, an integrated rapid credit card processing feature of the system, provides customers with a huge advantage over traditional quick service outlets as multiple tills can process credit card transactions simultaneously in just 1.5 seconds. As well as helping to minimise queues at busy times, the ability to accept credit cards is proven to increase customer spend.
The first deployment for Andromedas new Counter Service system is at the Papa Johns innovative quick service outlet in Centrale, Croydons premier shopping centre. The system integrates with Andromedas advanced head office reporting, which further collates sales and other key operating information in near real time from Papa Johns 100+ delivery outlets. Andromeda Delivers EPOS for Papa John's
Papa John's, America's number one pizza company, has selected Andromeda to provide a state-of-the-art enterprise wide EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) system for its head office and business operations throughout the UK. Andromeda's Rameses Enterprise EPOS system will provide Papa John's with a range of features, including real-time, multi-site reporting, a fully integrated website to store ordering information for customers and multiple customisation options. The system also incorporates fast card processing, provided by Andromeda's payment service partner, DataCash. |
The EPOS system will initially be installed in Papa John's UK
headquarters in Chertsey, Surrey, along with over 80 sites throughout
the country. The roll out will take place before the end of 2005 and
the EPOS system will be extended to new sites as they are set up, as
well as franchise sites.
Owing to the acquisition of Perfect Pizza and the phased conversion
programme to Papa John's, the company was previously using a variety of EPOS systems so could not offer the central reporting and customer management functions offered by a fully integrated system.
Commenting, Jean-Michel Fabre, supply chain and marketing director of Papa John's in the UK, said: "As well as providing direct improvements to customer service, such as faster food delivery, the new EPOS service will enable us to understand better the exact needs of our customer base - centrally, regionally, and at individual sites. By knowing exactly what our customers want we can tailor our marketing and sales campaigns accordingly. This technology gives Papa John's an even better competitive edge as we strive to provide the highest levels of customer service in the pizza delivery market.
"We chose Andromeda because of their flexibility and the fact that they
can provide us with a tailored system. The next few years are going to be hugely exciting times for everyone involved with Papa John's as the company steps up a gear and we believe Andromeda is the perfect partner for that journey."
Ben Portsmouth, Managing Director of Andromeda, said: "Papa John's had a specific need to for an EPOS system that would set them apart from their competitors. In Rameses Enterprise, they have bought a product that will give them huge benefits, both in terms of the customer's experience, productivity gains and improved information about their customers' behaviour."
As well as installing the system, Andromeda will work with Papa John's to provide training and project management services. |

New Andromeda Text EPOS Service Simply a Blast for Customers
Andromeda, a leading provider of delivery EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) services, has launched a novel yet simple and highly effective integrated text messaging service for food delivery companies and their customers. As well as notifying their customers by text that a delivery is on its way, food delivery companies can now issue special alerts and promotions to increase demand during typically quiet trading periods and build up longer term loyalty. Having trialled the service with a few clients, including Famous Moes, Andromeda now sees the potential to extend its new offering to other food delivery businesses. |
The new services, which include Text Notification, Text100 Blast and Bespoke SMS Blast, are a direct extension of the companys EPOS system, Rameses, and are being marketed together with Goldcross Marketing.
Text Notification notifies the customer that their order has been despatched, meaning that they dont have to keep ringing up to find out where their food is. It also means that delivery companies can free up their phone lines to take additional orders instead of handling calls from customers chasing to find out whether their current order is on its way.
Text100 Blast enables food companies to drum up more business by issuing special offers - for example, buy one pizza and get one free on a Monday evening, typically a quiet day of the week for food outlets. Bespoke SMS Blast gives food companies the ability to send a regular campaign of special offers, weekly, monthly or seasonally.
Our aim has been to provide food delivery companies with a simple but highly effective form of direct marketing, integrated into their existing EPOS system, explains Ben Portsmouth, Director of Andromeda. Text messaging in this way provides several short and long term benefits, from immediate sales during quiet periods to customer loyalty because customers feel as if they are getting something special.
Within a month of trialling the service, over 7,500 text messages were issued and the response from Andromedas clients has been noticeable.
During the trial period a Famous Moes store recorded 200 worth of additional orders in one shift, after sending just 100 messages at a cost of 7. Commenting, Finance Director of Famous Moes, Arash Shababi, said: "As a business always on the lookout to create new opportunities for our customers we welcomed the opportunity to try out Andromeda's new messaging service. We have been delighted with the response - it's been a very simple way of driving otherwise untapped business."
Each of the services is available to Andromedas clients from just seven pence per text message sent, plus a 1.25 invoice charge per week. Andromeda is also offering a Money Back Guarantee. If clients find that the response is not providing them with a satisfactory return, they will receive their money back, subject to terms and conditions. |

Since launching an integrated EPOS and payments services solution with DataCash in January 2005, Andromeda has announced that a further 30 customers have signed up to the service with more in the pipeline. Customers now include The Bombay Bicycle Club, Famous Moes Food Service and Herbies Pizza. Andromeda already provides EPOS systems, including integrated online ordering, to many of the UKs major delivery companies and is the exclusive integrated EPOS provider for lastminute.coms Eat In service. |
"Since launching our integrated solution with DataCash earlier this year, we have been extremely pleased with the response from our initial target customers, explained Ben Portsmouth, Co-Founder and Director of Andromeda. Several of them have trialled the service at one site, and within just a few days of the trial decided to roll it out fully to other areas of their business.
Such has been the response, that we are now offering the DataCash Card Processing service as standard with all new sites. Our customers tell us they have seen significant improvements in order levels at peak times as they can now process orders more rapidly. We are now planning to offer the service to all of our existing sites, and over the coming months we will be pro-actively marketing to new customers.
Andromeda recently started implementation of its Chip and PIN functionality, which will enable the use of cards in dine-in restaurants and counter service outlets. Andromeda already has a number of customers awaiting completion of the bank approval process which will be completed in the coming weeks.
By teaming up with DataCash, Andromeda has been able to process a card transaction as quickly as cash which is important for customers with busy ordering periods. An example is a bustling coffee shop which for practical reasons cannot accept credit cards using a PDQ as this can take up to a minute for each transaction and unnecessarily lengthens the customer queuing time. By combining the Andromeda counter service system with DataCash card processing, operators can process a card transaction in under two seconds. Transactions are fully integrated into the EPOS system, removing the potential for human error.
Were delighted that Andromeda and its customers have seen a very tangible benefit to integrating with our payment system, said Gavin Breeze, business development director for DataCash. The company is making inroads into the counter service sector, complementing its existing strength in the delivery market. We look forward to further developments in this area as Andromeda goes from strength to strength.
The system also validates address and card security details, which in turn reduces fraud charge backs. It can also handle multiple simultaneous transactions, avoiding the need for staff to share a PDQ machine.
The target market for DataCash and Andromeda is around 5,000 delivery outlets and more than 22,000 counter service outlets in the fast food and coffee shop sectors, plus 41,000 bars and pubs*.

DataCash and Andromeda Aim for Bigger Slice of Delivery Market
DataCash, the UKs leading bank independent payment services provider, has partnered with Andromeda, the UKs leading supplier of delivery EPOS systems, to provide a high-speed card authorisation delivery and counter service to customers. Andromeda already provides EPOS systems to many of the UKs major delivery companies, including integrated online ordering, and is the exclusive integrated EPOS provider for lastminute.coms Eat In service. |
This year we are introducing counter service and restaurant systems which will offer similar benefits to those of quick service outlets, explains Ben Portsmouth, co-Founder and Director of Andromeda. By teaming up with DataCash, we can process a card transaction as quickly as cash which is important for customers with busy ordering times.
An example is a bustling coffee shop which for practical reasons cannot accept credit cards using a PDQ as this can take up to a minute for each transaction and unnecessarily lengthens the customer queuing period. By combining the Andromeda counter service system with DataCash card processing, operators can process a card transaction in under two seconds. Transactions are fully integrated into the EPOS system, removing the potential for human error.
For merchants this is a great service because it offers some very simple cost-saving and revenue-generating benefits, says Gavin Breeze. Delivery operators can expect increased sales at peak times as order-taking is reduced by half. Research also shows that consumers spend up to 20-50% more when they pay by card.
The system will also validate address and card security details which in turn will reduce fraud charge backs. It can also handle multiple simultaneous transactions, avoiding the need for staff to share a PDQ machine.
Operators will have access to a real-time MIS Reporting suite.
The target market for DataCash and Andromeda is around 5,000 delivery outlets and more than 22,000 counter service outlets in the fast food and coffee shop sectors, plus 41,000 bars and pubs**.
